What is the Jeep® 4xe Powertrain?
Jeep 4xe® models are propelled by a plug-in hybrid powertrain. Like regular hybrids, the use an electric motor to support a gas-powered engine. By reducing the engine's workload, the combination results in improved fuel economy and lower emissions. It also often delivers more responsive acceleration. Since PHEVs have more powerful motors and larger battery capacities than normal hybrids, they require external charging to achieve optimal performance and efficiency. However, they can function normally on gas alone. One major advantage of plug-in hybrid vehicles like the Jeep® 4xe lineup is the ability to operate on just electricity. That allows you to experience EV driving without worrying about range anxiety.
Jeep® 4xe Performance and Charging
The Jeep 4xe powertrain adds an electric motor to a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine, generating a robust 375 horsepower and 470 pound-feet of torque. A smooth-shifting eight-speed automatic transmission helps optimize responsiveness and efficiency, and four-wheel drive is standard across the lineup.
The 4xe electric motor draws power from a dedicated 17.3-kWh battery, which can be charged in two-and-a-half to three hours using Level 2 (240-volt, 7.2-kW) equipment. However, you don't necessarily need a special charging setup in your home to enjoy the benefits of plug-in hybrid ownership. Jeep 4xe models can replenish their batteries overnight (11 - 12 hours) using a standard 120-volt household-style wall outlet.

Building on the brand's Zero Emission Freedom initiative, the Jeep Wrangler 4xe provides a glimpse of the future of off-road capability. The Jeep Wrangler 4xe is offered exclusively as a four-door "Ultimate" model, offering ample passenger space and a 27.7 cubic foot cargo area (67.4 cubic feet with the rear seats folded). It comes standard with desirable technologies like a 12.3-inch Uconnect® 5 touchscreen, wireless Apple CarPlay/Android Auto, Full-Speed Forward-Collision Warning Plus, and Adaptive Cruise Control. It's also capable of a truly open-air experience thanks to its removable doors, fold-down windshield, and multiple removable roof options.

The Jeep Grand Cherokee 4xe comes standard with Quadra-Trac II® 4WD and a Selec-Terrain® Traction Management System.
